mvebu (Mamba XP) - sysupgrade does actually perform no upgrade

Description

After building latest trunk and trying to perform a sysupgrade from an existing OpenWRT trunk on an WRT1900AC installation, sysupgrade looks like not actually doing the upgrade, but stating it was successfully.

I noticed that it's switching between nandboot and altnandboot and so I performed the upgrade in both environments. But in both it seems to be unsuccessful and the system comes back online in its previous state before the upgrade.

your altnandboot variable is nonstandard, it should be "run linksys_altnandboot". You are also missing the "boot_part" variable, which should be "1" if nandboot is active and "2" for altnandboot..

you also didn't provide any info on your mtd partitions from dmesg

So far I have only touched uboot variables ipaddr, netmask, serverip and firmware_name to be able to flash via TFTP.
Anyway I've changed now altnandboot to "run linksys_altnandboot" as you mentioned.

In the meantime I also flashed latest trunk (factory.img) via uboot (update_both_images) and now the boot_part variable is set

boot_part was already set before if you look at the end of the printout. When uboot-envtools sets variables from Linux it doesn't sort in order. You have to use uboot's saveenv to do that.

Comparing linksys_altnandboot and openwrt_altnandboot, it doesn't look like it would cause this. The only difference appears to be the size of the read for the kernel, and if that were wrong it would not boot at all.

Try reflashing to factory (twice, so both firmwares are clean) and reset everything to default.
