Model TP-Link TL-WDR4300 (IL) v1
Firmware Version SuperWRT Chaos Calmer r44585 / LuCI (git-15.059.65814-de5ec52)
Kernel Version 3.18.7

I noticed that dns quries are going out to the primary and secondery dns servers with couple of mili seconds delay between them

probably some SuperWRT setting
check your dnsmasq options

--all-servers
    By default, when dnsmasq has more than one upstream server available, it will send queries to just one server. Setting this flag forces dnsmasq to send all queries to all available servers. The reply from the server which answers first will be returned to the original requester.
