#18661 new enhancement

Process to generate core dump of smaller size

Reported by: gaurav.pruthi88@… Owned by: developers
Priority: high Milestone: Features Paradise
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: coredump busybox ulimit Cc:

Description

At present , if we enable coredump flag in kernel of OpenWrt system then that generates coredump that is of size ~90MB which is too large for an embedded device to accomodate. If we try to limit the size of coredump using ulimit that generates file of lesser size which is of no use. So , this can be a new feature if an application can be embedded/configured in busybox or alike that can generate coredump of lesser size which doesn't contains unwanted data.

please give an example: which applications produces such large coredumps? the biggest we have seen are ~2 megabytes. (we use this feature/flag heavily). have you tried to enable zram? on which platform you are working?
