This is actually with some Huawei Modems on brcm47xx platform with kernel 3.14/3.18;
on ar7xx it works most of the time.

I'm having the same problem for some time. I think it was introduced by r43000. Tested only with ar71xx devices (3.10.x and 3.14.x kernels) and some Huawei modems.

root@OpenWrt:~# gcom -d /dev/ttyUSB1 sig
comgt 17:25:45 -> -- Error Report --
comgt 17:25:45 -> ---->                    ^
comgt 17:25:45 -> Error @133, line 8, Could not write to COM device. (1)

root@OpenWrt:~# gcom -d /dev/ttyUSB0 sig
comgt 17:26:32 -> -- Error Report --
comgt 17:26:32 -> ---->                       ^
comgt 17:26:32 -> Error @224, line 13, String is shorter than second argument. (7)

Removing 002-termios.patch apparently solved the problem.
