#18507 new enhancement

trunk: usbmode: Vodafone R215/Huawei E5372 device

Reported by: mgondium@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

Description

I added the following to the end of usb-mode.json to modeswitch the Vodafone R215 LTE hotspot via USB connection. I was not sure where to submit this, since I don't think the OpenWrt usbmode is related to usb_modeswitch.

"12d1:1582": {

"*": {

"t_vendor": 4817,
"t_product": [ 5120, 5512 ],
"mode": "HuaweiNew",
"msg": [ ]

}

}

Mind that this device requires the huawei_cdc_ncm module for the wwan0 interface to appear.

I think that OpenWrt's usb-mode.json is actually created by periodically importing the data from http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/ so you might want to consider submitting this upstream (if it isn't included already)

On Debian Jessie this device mode-switches already, and I'm not sure if the handling is done based on the new MBIM device modes or more generically using the manufacturer id, since I didnt' find this device on the list.

That setting doesn't work for me.

This works.

"12d1:1552": {

"*": {

"t_vendor": 4817,
"t_product": [ 5512 ],
"msg": [ 26 ]

}

},

Indeed is the same setting used by the E5372 (adjusted in the source and target product ID, obviously), which is the same router with a different firmware (r215 can be easily flashed with the e5372 fw, and viceversa)

There was a typo on my previous message. the defaul PID is, obviously, "12d1:1582" not "12d1:1552".

Thanks to dairyman from ROOter who spotted it.
