I run out of ideas :)

The ROM is the same one as on the Netgear3800 so it should be ok.

did you maybe only flash the kernel ? which file did you flash ?

I used https://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/ar71xx/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-eap300v2-squashfs-factory.bin
I flashed it using the engenius web interface, and also by loading the openwrt ram image and sysupgradeing.
