OpenWrt ag71xx Ethernet driver bug

Reported by: liuquancheng Owned by: developers
Priority: highest Milestone:
Component: kernel Version: Attitude Adjustment 12.09
Keywords: Cc:

Hi all,

We use the SW version and development environment as follows:

Development Environment: OpenWrt attitude_adjustment version
Ethernet driver: ag71xx
SOC: Atheros AR9344 chip
Linux kernel: linux-3.3.8

AR9344 built-in switch ag71xx Ethernet driver-----no detect port status, and no transmit netlink message to upper layer via each port.

(1) We come across OpenWrt ag71xx Ethernet driver issue, concrete issue is illustrated as follows:

When plug or unplug one of DB120 AR9344 built-in switch Ethernet five ports, Ethernet driver can not detect each port plug or unplug status. The result is that Ethernet driver can not transmit netlink message to upper layer, netifd application program of upper layer can not know about physical link status, and it also can not down/up upper layer interface according to network interface link status.

(2) Whether other version of OpenWrt support this above-mentioned function or not?

(3) Whether you could help us to resolve this bug or not?

This is not a bug and your version is really old.
You can query the linkstatus via e.g.

swconfig dev switch0 port "$port" show

is up to you to implement a hook which sends
a netlink-message, which can fire a hotplug event.
