I have no issues, but it may be related to the max tx power you have set.

If you have issues making the same tx power listed in luci, try this:

http://luci.subsignal.org/~jow/reghack/README.txt

Oh, I have ar71xx too, but wndr3800, and also tested ag300h (during my wan port issues).

So, maybe if you get exactly the same settings for TX power, channel, channel width- and also check at the client (laptop, phone)... then you can see if its real or the newer drivers are just underreporting.

I thought that reghack doesnt work anymore, since, like, years?

reg hack doesn't help

BTW - confirmed via a rollback to AA - wireless signal drops at least 20% (using inSSIDer to check on same pc, same placement, same NIC). "Real world" usage is worse - can't get signal through a wooden wall on BB where AA gets 3 bars on iphone, for example.

Final Release of BB (OpenWrt Barrier Breaker 14.07 / LuCI Trunk (0.12+svn-r10530) ) still has same problem here.

similar problem with AA R36088 where my USB adapter is reported with -60dBm in luci and AA R42647 where it is reported with -72dBm

Any update to this ticket? OpenWRT, at least WiFi, seems not usable on buffalo routers right now.

CC has same issue.

Keep trying CC in hopes that a newer build might help - still no good.

Tried rebuilding wireless config as well. No dice.

What does iwinfo say?
I know on ag300h , if I use channels 1-2 max 16 db
3-8 max 19 db
9-11 max 16 db.
Meanwhile on wndr3800, I can do up to 26 db on all 1-11.
Depends on eeprom of the device. and reghack does nothing, just opens up the dfs channels (52-and so on in 5ghz)

Maybe with AA the driver ignored the eeprom of the device?

Anyone? Wifi still not usable on BB and CC

comment:13 Changed 3 years ago by anonymous

If you do /sbin/wifi does that clear it up for a while? There was another bug that was closed (never fixed) for this same problem. As a workaround you could setup a scheduled task for /sbin/wifi every few hours or so.

comment:14 Changed 3 years ago by anonymous

Running /sbin/wifi does not change anything here

Any solutionto this ticket? I see that issue was reported almost half a year ago.same problem here on buffalo router usin barrier breaker.

comment:16 Changed 3 years ago by ElLoco

Anyone working on this issue? Looks like buffalo routers are abandoned since BB.

comment:17 Changed 2 years ago by anonymous

Lots of noise around crappy wifi signals with CC - will this ever be looked at?

comment:18 Changed 20 months ago by anonymous

15.5.1 has the same issue. i think that buffalo are abandoned

comment:19 Changed 20 months ago by anonymous

the night build have the same issue, signal it's very weak.

for me the last working rel it's 12.09 just in case someone want to do a downgrade (i have try all the combination lol)

Any update?

looks like a intentional bullshit to keep transimt power as low as 10 mW. fuck you whoever has come up with this.
