#17284 new defect

/sbin/wifi creates new OID for wireless interface

Description

We have a large installation (280+) of mostly TP-Links TL-WR743ND, running trunk BB r36736. We use SCIFI (github.com/sci-fi) to control them, and it regularly reconfigures the wireless interfaces. Everytime it runs /sbin/wifi, a new OID is created for each of the SSIDs. For long-running APs, this means 600+ interfaces that are down (only the last OID created is flagged as active in snmp).

The name of the interface does not change (wlan0, wlan0-1, wlan0-2), but the OID does.

This prevents using snmp directly for monitoring the wireless interfaces. Is there a fix for that?

This also happens on the TL-WR740N and all the ubiquiti APs (nano, pico and bullet) running AA.

The new interfaces can be seen using snmpwalk.
