dir-300 A1 100% cpu usage in hostapd after a few days

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Component: base system Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

I've been trying trunk for a few months on a D-Link DIR-300 A1 as the wireless initially works better than on Attitude Adjustment 12.09, but after running for a day or two on trunk hostapd gets stuck in a 100% cpu loop which prevents clients from being able to connect. There doesn't seem to be anything unusual in the logs either when the loop occurs either. Initially I was trying the daily generic atheros builds, but now I'm using a custom build to remove connection tracking as that was causing performance issues with the console via dropbear. The last trunk revision I tried was r40352 and I'm using a WPA2 enterprise wifi setup with the same ssid as another wifi router (TP-Link TL-WR1043ND) in another room. The router is also running minimal services and all lan ports on a single vlan to reduce load on the router.

Killing hostapd and letting it autoreload allows clients to connect again for another few hours. Also, the wireless stays visible with wireless scanning during the 100% usage, clients just can't connect.

How should I go about debugging this issue?

It looks like when I remove "option auth_cache 1" from the wpa wireless config, I no longer get 100% CPU usage.
