#1629 closed enhancement (wontfix)

GCC for compiling on the target

Reported by: tgabor84 NOSPAM at gmail.com Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: toolchain Version:
Keywords: Cc:

Description

It would be nice if the toolchain can be selected to be compiled for the target, and included in a package with developenment libraries. It would be then easier to compile programs that are not cross-compilation aware.

That would not be happen. Native compiling on the router is not needed with OpenWrt. If you application does not cross-compile using the SDK or the build-system you have to patch the application.

I will consider doing that, but maybe I'll patch the build system instead, because I had many problems trying to build the SVN server. I wanted to install Trac and it has dependencies that are also problematic.

actually having a native compiler makes sense - there are targets which have plenty of ram/cpu for that
