#15427 accepted defect
GUI doesn't respond proportionally to 40 MHz regulatory restrictions

Component: | luci | Version: | Trunk |
Keywords: | luci wifi 5ghz 40mhz | Cc: |
Description
When the regulatory restriction doesn't allow for certain combinations of channels, the GUI doesn't always account for that.
For example, lets say in NL on the 5 GHz band, the lowest channel allowed and that can be chosen from the GUI is 36. If I choose to use 40 MHz channel bonding and tell it to use the channel below, the GUI lets you choose everything as such.
The wifi gets disabled, without informing the user as to why.
What probably would be better, that if 40 MHz channels are chosen, and the choice is made either below or above, the 'additional used channel' is greyed out but still in the selection box! and switch to the next available channel up/down.
This would yield that the channel chosen is not the one being used (well it is part of the 40 MHz so it is somewhat chosen) but atleast the user is left with a working wifi configuration, without wondering why it does not work.
The only way to find out it about this failure, is to ssh in and run logread.
