Sane detects scanner but says that the device is busy or device not found

Description

I own a WDR4300v1 running an snapshot of barrier breaker from yesterday (25/03 r40010) and a HP Deskjet 2050 J510 printer/scanner.
I got it working sucessfully on cups and the printer part works perfectly, the problem came when I tried to use sane.

sane-find-scanner returns this:

root@Bt_Networks_(4300):/usr/share/hplip/data/models# sane-find-scanner

  # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
  # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
  # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

  # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
  # you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0 [HP], product=0x8711 [Deskjet 2050 J510 series]) at libusb:001:005
  # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
  # SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.

  # Not checking for parallel port scanners.

  # Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
  # can't be detected by this program.

When I try to scan:

root@Bt_Networks_(4300):/usr/share/hplip/data/models# scanimage
scanimage: no SANE devices found

By executing logread I got this:

Wed Mar 26 10:17:57 2014 user.err syslog: io/hpmud/model.c 528: no Deskjet_2050_J510_series attributes found in /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat
Wed Mar 26 10:17:57 2014 user.err syslog: io/hpmud/model.c 539: no Deskjet_2050_J510_series attributes found in /usr/share/hplip/data/models/unreleased/unreleased.dat
Wed Mar 26 10:17:57 2014 user.err syslog: io/hpmud/musb.c 2026: ignoring hp:/usb/Deskjet_2050_J510_series?serial=BR0BOFP21605D1 support=0

I found that my model wasn't listed on models.dat, so I copied the details of this printer from a cups installation that I have on Ubuntu to models.dat.

Now when I try to scan it says:

root@Bt_Networks_(4300):/usr/share/hplip/data/models# scanimage
scanimage: open of device hpaio:/usb/Deskjet_2050_J510_series?serial=BR0BOFP21605D1 failed: Device busy

And logread says:

Wed Mar 26 10:21:23 2014 kern.debug kernel: [48506.930000] Did not find alt setting 1 for intf 0, config 1
Wed Mar 26 10:21:23 2014 user.err syslog: io/hpmud/hpmud.c 205: invalid channel_open state, current io_mode=raw/uni service=HP-SCAN hp:/usb/Deskjet_2050_J510_series?serial=BR0BOFP21605D1

Wed Mar 26 10:21:23 2014 kern.debug kernel: [48506.940000] Did not find alt setting 1 for intf 0, config 1

Wed Mar 26 10:21:23 2014 user.err syslog: io/hpmud/hpmud.c 341: device_cleanup: done closing device dd=1

Am I doing something wrong? Did I skip one or more steps?

Thanks for any help

I'm also affected by this bug. I have a DeskJet 1512.

Also I see in /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat that on the profile I've pasted from my computer, there is a line that says support-ver=3.13.8 and the HPLIP version installed is 3.9.12.

I suspect that this can be the fail.
