#15353 new defect

btrfs fails to build when stripping unnessesary exports from kernel.

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: kernel Version: Trunk
Keywords: btrfs, kmod-lib-zlib, zlib_inflate, stripping unnessesary exports Cc:

Description

If

CONFIG_STRIP_KERNEL_EXPORTS

is enabled,

and if wanting wo build btrfs, i.e. enabling

CONFIG_PACKAGE_kmod-fs-btrfs

it fails to build.

Error message:
==>
ERROR: "zlib_inflateEnd" [fs/btrfs/btrfs.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "zlib_inflate_workspacesize" [fs/btrfs/btrfs.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "zlib_inflate" [fs/btrfs/btrfs.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "zlib_inflateInit2" [fs/btrfs/btrfs.ko] undefined!
<==

(CONFIG_PACKAGE_kmod-lib-zlib is selected).

Seems that the system thinks the kernel-zlib-libraries are not needed and get stripped away.
