#15279 closed defect (wontfix)

process `sysctl' is using deprecated sysctl (syscall)

Reported by: katananja Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

TP-Link TL-WDR4300 v1, Trunk r39930

After an upgrade from r39155 this message started to pop up at syslog:

ICMPv6: process `sysctl' is using deprecated sysctl (syscall) - use instead

I don't use IPV6 and don't have any key at /etc/sysctl.conf with that specific description or altering that specific key. I don't know what process or configuration is using the key

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

This can already be triggered by running the "sysctl" command which enumerates all properties, including deprecated ones. This is perfectly normal and happens on regular Linux distributions as well.

Since this has no negative impacts on operation we're not going to look into it.
