target brcm47xx-2.6 not working on Asus WL-500g

Description

Firmware built with target brcm47xx-2.6 is not working correctly on Asus WL-500g.
Squashfs image firstly boots without problems, root password change and than ftp and ssh access works perfekly. After command reboot all services are shut down but reboot probably is not done - ping is responding without any interception. After power cycle router with r6633 is in safe mode and waiting for upload firmware. With revision around 6587 - 6613 router boots up (sometimes?) but with default configs and with corrupted filenames (files):

drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 0 Jan 1 00:00 eec

drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 0 Jan 1 00:01 etc

in /jffs and /eec

drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Jan 1 00:00 connii

drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Jan 1 00:00 uciideffultt

in /eec/conii is

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 493 Jan 1 00:00 nettork

in /eec/uciideffultt

-rw------- 1 root root 13 Jan 1 00:00 METT_dAAFgHH39kkF3HH2sr

and so on.

Router with jffs image after upload not responds to anything at all.

Last functional revision is r6563 with now removed target brcm-2.6

I can provide my firmware by mail, web ...

Sorry, r6656 squashfs (default config - with added pureftpd and ethers hosts files, everything built from scratch) still the same problem. Maybe problem with mtd or any filesystem code?
After first reboot all changed files are in /eec directory with corrupted filenames.
I can provide my image for testing.

Can you try to only override the copy_from and copy_to functions? I think the rest of them should be fine with the default handlers.

Replying to nbd:

you are right, just replaced the "copy_from" routine and all seems to go quite well.

we never got a feedback from rufus about this. changes past r6563 broke functionality for the Siemens se505 v1, Askey RT210W,RT220W, Belkin f5d7230-4 v1000 and others perhaps. The routers do boot and can get an IP through dhcp on the wan port. Ping does not work, but arping does work. Hard coding the network config file for eth0 to acquire IP from dhcp has no result, the router does not get an IP. No serial or jtag to further debug this. Toshiba wrc-1000, based on the same CPU, works on latest snapshots but has a poor ethernet performance issue reported on ticket #3310 and possibly related to cache workaround issues reported on ticket #143 although these changes appear to be included on the latest snapshot, this problem remains.
