I've been noticing the same with my wrt610nv1, the reboots are caused by the (new) switch driver (b53). Unfortunately my printk() based debugging hasn't been very successful so far, as the problematic condition seems to be triggered in an asynchronous fashion (it always differs how far I can get through the driver initialisation, before it reboots - nothing tangible so far).

In failsafe mode works, I do not understand why.
Hopefully we can use this wonderful operating system and revive this fantastic router.

I can confirm this behavior when building with tg3. Whithout tg3 everything ok, apart from wired network ;-)

Please remove the call to b53_switch_reset_gpio() in b53_switch_reset() in target/linux/generic/files/drivers/net/phy/b53/b53_common.c and try again.

It could be that there is a wrong gpio in the nvram config and the switch driver triggers a reboot.

Please remove the call to b53_switch_reset_gpio() in b53_switch_reset() in target/linux/generic/files/drivers/net/phy/b53/b53_common.c and try again.

There is a workaround for a similar device in the code and I just wan to know if our device is also affected.
It is nice to know that you reset the nvram, but it dos not help.

I've built an image with the call to b53_switch_reset_gpio() in b53_switch_reset() commented out (as well as the corresponding function b53_switch_reset_gpio to get it to build).

This did not fix the issue, and still causes a reboot loop after the network is loaded.

Building OpenWRT without swconfig solved this problem for me (WRT610N v!, tg3 based ethernet chipset)

Ok, solved it. Added swconfig again via opkg, and edited /etc/config/network:

config switch 'eth0'
#       option name 'switch0' # <--- commented out!
        option reset '1'
        option enable_vlan '1'

config switch_vlan 'eth0_1'
        option device 'switch0'
        option vlan '1'
        option ports '1 2 3 4 8t' # <--- cpu port is on port #8, not #5

config switch_vlan 'eth0_2'
        option device 'switch0'
        option vlan '2'
        option ports '0 8t'       # <--- ditto

Seems as if "option name ..." either triggers a kernel bug in tg3,ko, or causes procd to reset the system.
And, cpu port is on port 8, not 5 - at least for my WRT610N V1

Building without swconfig stops my WRT610Nv1 from rebooting but Ethernet doesn't work. Now I try to figure out where the issue "option name" comes from...
Thanks for the valuable hints guys. I would like to finally run OpenWRT on my main router :-)
