#14327 new defect

p910nd fails to print last page completely

Reported by: Anton van Bohemen <avbohemen@…> Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

Description

Device: Netgear WNDR3700
Openwrt build: r38017
p910nd version: 0.95
Printer: HP Photosmart D5460
Connected via USB.

Problem: Last page in print jobs fails to print completely.

This started since the switch to kernel 3.7 and has been around ever since, up to 3.10.x. Print jobs finish successfully according to the log, but the last page does not print completely. The last page is printed halfway and then remains hanging in the printer until a timeout expires. This happens most of the time, however, not every time, even with small (single page) print jobs.

I tried disabling bidirectional mode, but it made no difference.

Log:

Apr 16 19:20:28 router lpr.notice p9100d[3579]: Connection from 192.168.196.1 port 49741 accepted
Apr 16 19:21:04 router lpr.notice p9100d[3579]: Finished job: 431113 bytes received
Apr 16 19:21:04 router lpr.err p9100d[3579]: copy_stream: Connection reset by peer

Starting with 3.10.x kernels, the "connection reset by peer" message does not appear anymore, however, the result is the same: print jobs stall on the last page.

I got the same problem, when printing from a windows 8 system to p910nd. Did you resolve the problem?

This is not a printer problem as it worked fine with older kernels. The problem is still not solved.

I've got exact the same problem.

Jan 1 19:02:36 OpenWrt lpr.notice p9100d[2344]: Finished job: 49152 bytes received
Jan 1 19:02:36 OpenWrt lpr.err p9100d[2344]: copy_stream: Connection reset by peer
Jan 1 19:02:36 OpenWrt lpr.notice p9100d[2344]: Connection from 192.168.XX.XX port 61816 accepted

The connection reset occurs in about 75% of all print jobs. I'm using Windows 7 x64 and Windows XP x64 on my PCs, WR1043nd router with OpenWrt AA 12.09-rc1 and HP DJ3940 printer.

Problem occurs only on Windows 7 device.
