Description

Hi,
now the driver seems that try to load the firmware of the card but it fail.

I got:

root@OpenWrt:~# dmesg |grep -i iw
[ 4.192811] iwlwifi 0000:00:10.0: irq 43 for MSI/MSI-X
[ 4.229610] iwlwifi 0000:00:10.0: invalid TLV len: 532116/4061847692
[ 65.120213] iwlwifi 0000:00:10.0: request for firmware file 'iwlwifi-2030-5.ucode' failed.
[ 65.121537] iwlwifi 0000:00:10.0: no suitable firmware found!

I have the firmware iwlwifi-2030-6.ucode in /lib/firmware .

If i understand correctly from the iwl-drv.c file it start to search the file with the lowest compatible index (5) and if it found the newer one (6) it is ok too.

I tried to link the firmware iwlwifi-2030-6.ucode to iwlwifi-2030-5.ucode without success...

What can be the reason?
How to enable :

# CPTCFG_IWLWIFI_DEBUG is not set
# CPTCFG_IWLWIFI_DEBUGFS is not set

in the compat wireless .config file? May be it can be useful to have some more information.
Thank you
Bye

Hi everybody,
we really need that someone fix issues on this chipset for our project to go on. We can also donate/pay money for this to be done (a reasonable fee obviously).
Please let me know ASAP.
Thank you
Bye

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

Unfortunately this firmware version was never released, so there is no way to make it work in OpenWrt.

See http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel.wireless.general/96246/.

Hi,
probably i do not explained well my issue.
I don't want to let the system work with the iwlwifi-2030-5.ucode. I already read around that it was anexperimental firmware or something like this.
I need to let the Openwrt (compat-wireless) work with iwlwifi-2030-6.ucode that is the normal firmware for this card.
In our system we use a KVM virtual machine system and Openwrt is a VM on this host with PCI slot directly connected to Openwrt VM. Openwrt correctly see PCI device 8086:0887 but it is failing to access the card searching the firmware iwlwifi-2030-5.ucode.
If i disable Openwrt VM and let the host to use the Wireless-N 2230 card it is loading perfectly (host is running with kernel 2.6.x) with firlware iwlwifi-2030-6.ucode .

HOST dmesg with that card:

root@dock1:~# dmesg |grep iwlwif
iwlwifi: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link AGN driver for Linux, in-tree:
iwlwifi: Copyright(c) 2003-2012 Intel Corporation

iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: PCI INT A disabled

So this is our goal.
May be now it is more clear.
I'm almost sure that is something to fix in the compat wireless package or something like this to have this card working correctly.

Thank you
Bye

Has the issue with Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 BGN wirless card been resolved yet? I'm also stuck with the same issue:

iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: CONFIG_IWLWIFI_DEBUG disabled
iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: CONFIG_IWLWIFI_DEBUGFS disabled
iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: CONFIG_IWLWIFI_DEVICE_TRACING disabled
iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: CONFIG_IWLWIFI_DEVICE_TESTMODE disabled
iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: CONFIG_IWLWIFI_P2P disabled
iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: Detected Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 BGN, REV=0xC8
iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: L1 Disabled; Enabling L0S

WiFi is disabled by default in OpenWrt (I'm using barrier breaker). I tried using the custom configuration (/etc/config/wireless) file to enable the wifi but no use. Please help. Same card is working with Ubuntu.

Thank you.
