feeds + all packages =Warning: configuration out of sync

Reported by: zloop Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: toolchain Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

I get a red configuration out of sync error after doing:

make distclean
./scripts/feeds update -a
./scripts/feeds install -a
make menuconfig
# select : global: build all packages
make -j 4

WARNING: your configuration is out of sync. Please run make menuconfig, oldconfig or defconfig!

System is lubuntu 13.04 set up inside a VM on
VMWare Player 6.0.0-1295980. (Intel Win7x64 Host with VT-x)
Same thing happens on a real machine with
Mint 15 (=Ubuntu 13.04). (AMD 32bit)

Both filesystems are ext4.

make without -j 4 got the same error.

Selecting all packages is a kind of special option. It just creates one variable in .config according to which is all packages selected as a module after next menuconfig/defconfig call.

To avoid the warning message just call

make defconfig

which will generate new .config with all packages selected. Or you can enter menuconfig one more time to see if changes were reflected to .config file.

Take a look:

:~/build/test$ make menuconfig
Collecting package info: done
configuration written to .config

*** End of the configuration.
*** Execute 'make' to start the build or try 'make help'.

:~/build/test$ make defconfig
# configuration written to .config
:~/build/test$ make -j4
Checking 'openssl'... ok.
Checking 'rsync'... ok.
Checking '/usr/include/openssl/ssl.h'... ok.
Checking 'xsltproc'... ok.
Checking 'xgettext'... ok.
