Very poor WiFi signal on ASUS WL-600g

Description

Hello,

I have recently installed OpenWRT Backfire 10.03.1 on my ASUS WL-600g router. I am experiencing a very poor WiFi signal. It is hardly usable in one room even if I set the power to 20 dBm (100 mW).

I have not tested the Attitude Adjustment as my router has only 16 MB of RAM and 256 MHz CPU. The system did not boot with this configuration.

This router uses a bcm4318 wifi far from being perfect in Backfire. I recommend you to build a custom minimal firmware for this router, in AA wl propietary driver works quite good. Zram module in the kernel also helps with the lack of RAM memory.

AA unfortunately does not run on this device, as noted on the wiki.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

Backfire is not supported any more. You have to use AA and try to circumvent the out of memory issues or stay with an older version.
