#13451 new defect

Acpid fails to compile.

Reported by: ppvazquezfer@… Owned by: developers
Priority: low Milestone: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: acpid, x86 Cc:

Description

I think this information is enough.

make[4]: Entering directory `/home/pepe/trunk/build_dir/target-i386_uClibc-0.9.33.2/acpid-2.0.10'
i486-openwrt-linux-uclibc-gcc -W -Wall -Werror -Wundef -Wshadow -D_GNU_SOURCE -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing -g -DVERSION="\"2.0.10\"" -c -o libnetlink.o libnetlink.c
cc1: note: someone does not honour COPTS correctly, passed 0 times
libnetlink.c: In function 'rtnl_open_byproto':
libnetlink.c:45:23: error: argument to 'sizeof' in 'memset' call is the same expression as the destination; did you mean to dereference it? [-Werror=sizeof-pointer-memaccess]
  memset(rth, 0, sizeof(rth));
                       ^
cc1: all warnings being treated as errors
make[4]: *** [libnetlink.o] Error 1

For this compilation GCC 4.8.0 is used. Didn't tried other GCC versions because i need the highest version available for r92su driver testing.
Without this package the Wyse S10 thin client can't be powered off with the power button. Poweroff command works.

The same problem with GCC 4.8 linaro, but with GCC 4.6 linaro the error does not happen.
Maybe a compiler option present in 4.6 that was not included in 4.8 versions?

Still the issue with the last changes in GCC 4.8 Linaro.

Hello,

would you be so kind to test those patches if acpid does work? It is compile tested, but the functionality was not tested at all.

The first patch updates acpid to 2.0.22 and adds patch that replaces isfdtype call (this one is missing in uClibc). This patch has to be applied within packages feed repository.

The second patch adds missing definitions to uClibc. This patch has to be applied within OpenWrt buildroot.

Just to inform you - those patches are just for the test, if acpid works. It has to be reworked a little.

Let me know if acpid works.

Thank you,
Jiri
