Reported by: cpaulgm@… Owned by: developers
Priority: highest Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: base system Version: Trunk
Keywords: txpower offset, potencia, ganancia, ubnt, ubiquiti, picostation m2, bullet m2 Cc:

I have several PicoStation m2 with txpower offset = 12 dBm.
For my application I need less power than 12dbm.

I would like to change the offset to 0dbm.

What part of the code openwrt what changed?
I am using the trunk code.
thank you very much for your help. a greeting

The offset reflects the power of the amplifier of high power devices.
Only, if it is not a Picostation M2 HP, which is the only model available AFAIK, it would be correct to reduce the offset.
Reducing the offset would result in higher power, since e.g. 1dB output power + 12dB amplification + x dBi antenna gain would still be 13 + x dB.
Negative dB values would be the solution to your problem, but those are not yet supported by the ath9k AFAIK (may be outdated by now).
Deactivating the amplifier is impossible by means of software AFAIK.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

You can't. The offset is a hardware defined property.

You could set an offset in the gui, but this would lead to inconsistencies, since /etc/config/wireless still uses the value w/o the offset.
