iw scan reports hidden ssid as its raw hex value \x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00

I suggest this is parsed and handled.

Observed on TP-Link WDR3500 with r36213.
