#13250 closed defect (fixed)

wpad hostapd doesn't recognize 802.11s options (roaming)

Reported by: krzysztof.matusik@… Owned by: developers
Priority: high Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: wpad, hostapd, 802.11r Cc:

Description

Hello
I've just finished enhancing hostapd.sh to properly parse config.wireless options of 802.11r (roaming).
I get
Configuration file: /var/run/hostapd-phy0.conf
Line 75: unknown configuration item 'mobility_domain'
Line 76: unknown configuration item 'r0_key_lifetime'
Line 77: unknown configuration item 'r1_key_holder'
Line 78: unknown configuration item 'reassociation_deadline'
Line 79: unknown configuration item 'r0kh'
Line 80: unknown configuration item 'r0kh'
Line 81: unknown configuration item 'r1kh'
Line 82: unknown configuration item 'r1kh'
Line 83: unknown configuration item 'r1kh'
Line 84: unknown configuration item 'pmk_r1_push'
10 errors found in configuration file '/var/run/hostapd-phy0.conf'

It seems that hostapd isn't compiled with support 802.11r.
If it's going to get fixed we might be getting openwrt 802.11r compliant soon, as I'm willing to share my diff of hostapd.sh to community as soon I got a chance to test it.

Therefore please include 802.11r in wpad asap.

regards

Hi
Please give more detail:
openwrt version, revision, ...
also what version of wpad are you using (opkg list | grep wpad)

comment:2 Changed 5 years ago by anonymous

Sorry, even the full version doesn't support 802.11r
see https://dev.openwrt.org/browser/trunk/package/network/services/hostapd/files/hostapd-full.config?rev=36081, CONFIG_IEEE80211R is commented.

To test your work just edit package/network/services/hostapd/files/hostapd-full.config and recompile

Hi
Sorry for late reply. Also, it seems I can't change it now but I've written wrongly 802.11s instead of 11r at the very beginning, this sucks :-).
Yes, I'm using full wpad from most fresh Barrier Braker. I've never compiled anything for openwrt myself before and frankly I'd rather avoid it- that's why I'm asking for help.
If it's possible someone build the right wpad package, that would be great, then I can test it. Also, I would suggest enabling the option you mention for the whole distro anyway, it seems reasonable to do it (not for the wpad-mini, but wpad-full, why not)?

regards

What device do you need a test build for?

I have Buffalo WZR-HP-AG300H (openwrt-ar71xx-generic-wzr-hp-ag300h-jffs2-sysupgrade.bin) and wrt610n_v2 (openwrt-brcm47xx-squashfs.trx).
So ar71xx at least. If I get this one working I can test it with debian machine (debian's hostapd build supports 802.11r) and maybe wrt610n_v2 together with, if I get binary also.
