Website IPv6 support

Reported by: gajownik@… Owned by:
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07

Description

Please add IPv6 support to the website.

[gajownik@ulquiorra ~]$ host -t aaaa openwrt.org
openwrt.org has no AAAA record
[gajownik@ulquiorra ~]$

In EMEA region it's hard to get new IPv4 allocation, in case of PI (Provider Independent) address space it's already impossible.

Most websites in the world are still using IPv4 extensively. Do mean that if you're given IPv6, you can no longer browse sites hosted on IPv4? I'm sure ISPs will provide transition gateways.

Most websites in the world are still using IPv4 extensively.

Lack of IPv6 means that IPv6-only systems will fail to reach this site. Granted that OpenWRT could support IPv6, such situation is, ahem, quite silly. For example you will be unable to fetch packages using IPv6. It's not about "most websites", it's about ability to deploy and use OpenWRT in IPv6 environments. And since IPv4 address pools are getting exhausted, this is more and more pressing issue. These days it's getting hard to obtain your own IPv4 addresses for your use. And it does not looks like if there are any other suitable options except IPv6 left.
