Wifi stops working on Asus wl500gd

Reported by: thommyj@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: base system Version: Attitude Adjustment 12.09 Beta
Keywords: hostapd, wlan, b43 Cc:

Description

After a seemingly random uptime, wifi stops working on 12.09-rc1. I had the same behaviour on 10.03 as well, but never saved any logs. So I can't be 100% certain that it is the exact same problem. Frequency varies from 1 hour to a week.

When the problem happens the clients can still see the SSID, but fails to connect to it. On the network there is 5-6 clients, 1-2 used actively every day browsing the web. 1 client occasionally downloads large files, hence triggers a lot of data. It seems like the triggering is somewhat dependent on the traffic amount. But it doesn't have to be during high traffic loads.

A reboot of the device or a restart of hostapd solves the problems. Taking down and up wlan also seems to solve the problem, but it feels like it comes back quicker (although I really don't have any statistics to back that up).

Happened today again, attaching log file for hostapd (dont think logread contains anything useful). File is named "hostapd_noadr_secondtime.txt"

Can be closed, dupe of 7552. Increasing dma rxring size in b43 seems to provide a workaround
