libyaml fails to build parallell

Reported by: jameshofo@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: libyaml parallel Cc:

Hello all,

I was attempting to do a build with "-j 12" and kept getting hung up on libyaml. This looks like a fairly mature package (3 years at version 0.1.3) but adding "PKG_BUILD_PARALLEL:=0" seemed to make this build fine. I tried backing off to a lower job number but the build environment doesn't seem to want to back that number down, I did doable parallel building under under global build settings appears to be ignored.

Does anyone know why I can't reduce the parallel number?

the offending command appears to be trying to move a file before its created.

It should never parallelize this package unless you enabled an option such as CONFIG_PKG_DEFAULT_PARALLEL, which mentions in the description that it is expected to break the build.
If this option is disabled and want to reopen this ticket, please attach the .config that you were building with.
