#12847 new defect

Idle time-out on 3G connection (more generally ppp connection)

Reported by: paul.vrdsp0@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

Description

since R31041,
When using a 3G USB dongle, if idle time-out is set (eg 180secs) in Luci (variable network.my3Gconn.demand) on 3G UMTS configuration, pppd doesn't succeed in connecting.

Indeed, in ppp.sh

proto_config_add_int "demand" should be renamed :
proto_config_add_string "demandarg"

since it conflicts with variable from Luci :
json_get_var demand demand

dont know how to change this myself, but that might be the issue,
thanks,

Are you sure guys it's not that problem?
/ticket/12277.html

I tried the suggestion with demand and demandarg, and even though it makes sense and is a good idea to not use two different variable names and types with the same name, it didn't help with the problem.

Still looking for a solution/workaround though. Looks like i must rollback to Backfire. *sigh*

This problem is still occuring in Barrier Breaker 14.07.

Currently using MR3420 v1.

If any figure is entered into the 'Inactivity Timeout' field, the 3G will not connect.
