Is there a workaround to fix this error so I can get wifi up?

found fix is snapshots/trunk/packages is missing wpad-mini ipk. Ran this in /tmp

wget http://downloads.openwrt.org/attitude_adjustment/12.09rc1/ar71xx/generic/packages/wpad-mini_20120910-1_ar71xx.ipk (from attitude adjustment)

opkg install wpad_mini_20120910-1_ar71xx.ipk

root@openwrt~# wifi restart
Configuration file: /var/run/hostapd-phy0.conf
Using interface wlan0 with hwaddr xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx and ssid "xxxxxx"
random: Only 17/20 bytes of strong random data available from /dev/random
random: Not enough entropy pool available for secure operations
WPA: Not enough entropy in random pool for secure operations - update keys later when the first station connects

Wifi appears to be working even if it's not the latest and greatest wpad-mini.

Maybe get wpad-mini back into packages for current snapshot?

Caveat to the above comment, this is particular to the ar71xx routers. Change ar71xx to the proper device you need.

Now everything about wpad-mini works (r35181)
