#12764 new defect

iptables compilation fails, when building openwrt against an external kernel tree

Reported by: Andrew <andrew@…> Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: itables Cc:

Description

When compiling with an external kernel tree, this bug shows up:

make[5]: *** No rule to make target `extensions/libext4.a', needed by `iptables-multi'. Stop.

Compiling again shows that the actual problem is a missing definition of aligned_u64 from types.h of the kernel.

Digging further it looks like the patches for iptables are not applied when building against an external kernel tree. To make iptables compile either the usual set of patches should be applied, or just a small patch (attached to this bug report). The latter does seem to do the job.

This was seen on current trunk. The board is cubieboard (I'm porting OpenWRT to it right now)
