#12692 new defect

failed to set root password through luci (netgear:wndr3800)

Reported by: laplagne@… Owned by:
Priority: low Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: luci Version: Attitude Adjustment 12.09 Beta
Keywords: root password luci change Cc:

Description

Fresh install, first connect to luci through 192.168.1.1, warning me that root password not set.

I clicked on the link, set the password twice, clicked save&apply => no changes appeared through luci GUI. Then, I succeeded to connect to AA through telnet without password, and changing the root's one. After this, Luci is waiting for root password, and doesn't warning me anymore.

openwrt: AA 12.09rc1
model: Netgear WNDR3800
flash method : tftp

WARNING : it is AA12.09rc1 and NOT beta1 as selected, but that is the only available version - selecting low due to the fact that the root's password could be changed via telnet

sometimes it happens, to solve this issue you must 1)log out and ")log in luci and then change password and immediately apply & save changes :) This should work :)

I had the same bug and was able to solve it by doing a re-login and immediately changing the password, like suggested. But it is unexpected behaviour and thus annoying.
