Adding package snmpd in build breaks specific target builds

Reported by: courchea@… Owned by: developers
Priority: high Milestone: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: make Cc:

Description

Adding snmpd package (via feeds install) and enabling CONFIG_PACKAGE_snmpd=y in .config makes the build process build only the generic binaries.

Removing CONFIG_PACKAGE_snmpd=y from .config restores original (wanted) behaviour where target binaries are generated/

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Checkout trunk
  2. update feeds
  3. make menuconfig and select the tl-wa901nd target
  4. run make
  5. Verify that binaries for target tl-wa901nd are produced
  6. add snmpd package (scripts/feeds install snmpd)
  7. make menuconfig and add snmpd ad a build-in package (Network --> snmpd)
  8. verify in .config that CONFIG_PACKAGE_snmpd=y is present
  9. empty the bin folder (rm -Rf bin/*)
  10. run make
  11. Note that the binaries for tl-wa901nd are not generated

Note that I can install snmpd via opkg with the compiled firmware (without snmpd embedded), so I am tempted to say that it's not a room issue.

Ok, after further investigation, it indeed seem to be an image size issue:

[mktplinkfw] * error: images are too big
