#12446 new defect

[TP-Link WR743ND v1.2] ag71xx driver does not handle high number of frames per second correctly

Reported by: milan.plzik@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: kernel Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

Description

After connecting device's WAN port to network with really high number of frames per second (roughly 2000 frames per second, mostly ARP broadcasts), the driver starts to drop significant amount of received ethernet traffic; sometimes interface goes down and up.

This issue was observed in both original firmware and recent openwrt image from 5th november 2012.

I managed to reach state when the ethernet interface periodically changed from "link up" to "link down" and "back again". This state remained even after disconnecting the loaded network. Setting a ethtool parameter stopped this loop. In the 'looped' state, if disconnected from any ethernet device, driver reported 'tx timeout'.
