#12439 new defect

SDK target/host/bin/libtool references absolute path /build/[...]/host/bin/sed

Reported by: nop@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: toolchain Version: Attitude Adjustment 12.09 Beta
Keywords: Cc:

In aa 12.09b2, building lcd4linux-custom inside the SDK blows up with:

libtool --tag=CC [...] -o lcd4linux lcd4linux.o cfg.o [...] plugin_uptime.o -lgd -lm
host/bin/libtool: line 6444: /build/ar71xx/generic/staging_dir/host/bin/sed: No such file or directory

Note that this is target/host/bin/ but the regular staging_dir/host/bin/libtool seems like it should have the same problem.

Sure enough, line 83 of libtool says:

# A sed program that does not truncate output.

libtool-ucxx has the same problem.

Absolute paths are cleaned up most places in host/bin by STAGING_DIR stuff, but a few aren't. I found this useful to peer at what might be going on.

$ cd host/bin && grep "[ ='\"]/build" *
Binary file ruby matches about a zillion prefixes, which I bet are already fixed.

target/host/bin/ is full of broken symlinks of course.

The staging_dir/host/bin/libtool should not have the same problem, its explicitely patched to search resources relative to $STAGING_DIR .

Thanks--I'll get my build machine back up, and see where the package goes wrong.

If I have the energy I'll build packages-12.09 against the SDK and see if there are other things that don't work with the SDK. Is it a bug if a feed package does not build in the SDK?

Yes, it is a bug if a package does not build with the SDK.
