Can you be more specific please? What exactly does not work with this snapshot?

(Not OP here)
The device bricked for me but I currently can't provide any logs due to a faulty USB-to-TTL device.

Without a bootlog there is not much we can do to help you unfortunately. Do not hesitate to post when you have fixed your USB serial converter. Thanks!

Can you try if the attached patch fixes the issue?

You should be able to make it go into recovery mode by keeping the reset button pressed on powering on for about 30 seconds until it goes into blinkenlights mode (i.e. all leds light up) - then there should be a HTTP server available on http://192.168.2.1/ (note the .2.1) that will allow you uploading a -factory.bin image.

The only problem is that with AA there's still that bug regarding the buttons that prevent people from entering recovery mode. It was fixed later, though.

As soon as I got my adapter ready (and figured out the pinouts), I'm gonna try this.

I'm not talking about OpenWrt's Failsafe mode, I mean CFE's recovery mode. Which is independent from OpenWrt (therefore keeping reset pressed from power on). That should always work.

Alright, I finally got around to try this and it works!
Firmware is being flashed correctly, it boots and works fine.

The only issue is that the WAN port is not being configured (I know, the internal ADSL modem isn't supported)...but this isn't the topic of this ticket.

This can be closed.

Thanks for testing, committed in r34091 / r34092.

It only has one port, so the natural thing was to make it a lan port (as the original device behaves the same). Making it a wan port would mean there is no way of accessing it from the outside from a stock flash, as the firewall prevents any incoming connections on the wan side.
