#12300 closed defect (duplicate)

sta+ap: ap not available when station cannot connect

Reported by: francois.fornier@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: ap sta Cc:

Description

I use a TP-Link wr703n or mr11u for sharing hotel hotspot access among devices while on the road. I would switch the router on, WiFi connect to the ap side, ssh to it and edit /etc/config/wireless file to enter the correct ssid for the client mode.

This stopped working at some point between 31467 and now (last build I made that shows the problem is 33631). Currently, when the ssid configured on client mode is not available the hotspot does not come up and I have to connect through the LAN port to reconfigure the client ssid. Once this is done, the ap comes up right away.

Ticket 12000 (now closed) states "If wpa_supplicant looses the connection it will go into an active scan cycle which renders the wiphy unusable for ap mode operation, therefore the ap is taken down if the sta looses its association. That is nothing that can be fixed easily and there are no current plans to solve this."

But this is something that was working fine before and that got broken recently. If it was so easy to break, it should be quite simple to restore to the previous behaviour, no?

Still a duplicate and we have no plans fixing this.
