#12192 closed defect (worksforme)

broken LAN access on Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH

Reported by: Paul Geraedts <p.f.j.geraedts@…> Owned by: developers
Priority: response-needed Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: WZR-HP-G300NH LAN Cc:

The default config tags port 5 of the 'switch0' VLAN. This seems to break LAN access.

Workaround: removing the tagging re-enables the LAN access:

config switch_vlan
	option device 'switch0'
	option vlan '1'
	option ports '0 1 2 3 5'

Default config also setups LAN interface as "eth0.1", so no problem here.

Correct, CPU is tagged and lan ifname set to eth0.1 - cannot notice any problem with that.

I'm not claiming that the UCI network file /itself/ is wrong: I do not think it is.

I'm merely saying that if I flash the router with a recent trunk version (e.g. the upcoming new stable release), LAN is not operational.

As a work-around to bring back LAN I delete the tagging of port 5 (initially via failsafe mode and later via WAN*).

When you add the tagging of port 5 again, the router instantly stops replying to ARP queries (e.g. coming from arping).

If still too vague please allow me to supply additional information before closing the ticket; let me know what you would like to see more.

  • BTW, to update the state of the switch you really need to stop-start the network, i.e. a reload is not sufficient (bug?).

Attach the complete /etc/config/network, before editing anything in it.

Sorry, let me rephrase the title: LAN access is fine on Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH.

Turns out that only the switch part of my UCI network file was identical to current trunk, the lan ifname was not: it was (still?) pointing to eth0.

My fault: thanks for pointing me into the right direction.

P.S. The only remaining thing I see is the switch settings not being updated by an /etc/init.d/network reload (i.e. it only seems to happen when re-starting the network).
