#12184 closed defect (no_response)

IPv6 default route missing after boot / ifup and IPv6 (VLAN interface)

Reported by: Lutz.Pressler@… Owned by: developers
Priority: response-needed Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: base system Version: Attitude Adjustment 12.09 Beta
Keywords: ipv6 vlan Cc:

Description

(This test with brcm47xx system, wan is eth0.1)

/etc/config/network includes:
#### WAN configuration
config interface wan

option ifname "eth0.1"
option proto dhcp

no specific IPv6 configuration.

eth0.1 is connected to ethernet with another OpenWRT AA acting as DHCPv4 server and sending SLAAC RAs.
( dnsmasq.conf includes

enable-ra
dhcp-range=lan,some:pre:fix::,static,ra-stateless

)

After boot of the client system, eth0.1 has autoconfigured address and there is route for some:pre:fix, but no default route set.

ip l s eth0.1 down; ip l s eth0.1 up triggers new RS and fixes the problem immediately. Is there some route flush at the wrong point of network initialization?

Ok, another test: wan interface is fully configured (IPv4 and IPv6 address, routes). Now "ifdown wan" -> Interface is gone (because beeing VLAN?). "ifup wan" -> no IPv6 autoconfiguration at all (at least not until next periodic RA). ip link set down / up fixes this including default route.
