#11997 new defect

wan when set to dhcp fails to obtain ip

Description

This is a d-link 320 running trunk r-32996+luci svn-8897.

This router has wan set to dhcp and its lan is set to 172.21.3.1. When wan is plugged to another openwrt router lan, it fails to obtain an ip address using dhcp eventhough the upstream router is running dhcp server. The lan on the upstream is set to 192.168.1.0.

The syslog on the upstream shows:

It seems to me that the first router (172.21.3.0) may somehow still be using the openwrt default of 192.168.1.0 somewhere. If I set the wan to static, everything works.

Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks,

Perazim

Further info: If I plug this to another upstream router running openwrt with lan set to something other than 192.168.1.0, wan-dchp works as advertised.

I reflashed the upstream dir-320 with the same firmware just to make sure that upstream was not the problem. No change.
