#11974 new defect

Luci Dnsmasq incorrectly appends the "Local domain" to hostnames

Reported by: andywrt12@… Owned by:
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: luci Version: Trunk
Keywords: luci dnsmasq Cc:

Description

On the "DHCP and DNS" config page the entry for "Local domain" is appended to the hostnames in the dnsmasq configuration.

This behaviour breaks normal dnsmasq operation and is not desired.

The option -expandhosts of dnsmasq does this operation transparently and is configured by Luci.

CURRENTLY: a DNS request for foo fails if Local domain is set to "lan". A request for foo.lan succeeds. For foo to resolv, then the Local domain has to be empty.

Both should work. This is possible if the local hostnames do not have the domain appended.

Therefore, Luci should not add the Local domain to hostnames in /var/etc/dnsmasq.conf
