#11908 new defect

Changing ad-hoc channel disables network

Reported by: filipebteixeira@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: base system Version: Trunk
Keywords: ad-hoc channel iwconfig Cc:

Description

I'm having a problem when I want to change the ad-hoc channel. Performing iwconfig wlan0 channel 40, the iwconfig output modifies from

wlan0 IEEE 802.11abg ESSID:"adhocnet"

Mode:Ad-Hoc Frequency:5.18 GHz Cell: 66:E6:36:21:33:B4
Tx-Power=17 dBm
RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Power Management:on

to

wlan0 IEEE 802.11abg ESSID:off/any

Mode:Ad-Hoc Frequency:5.2 GHz Cell: Not-Associated
Tx-Power=17 dBm
RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Power Management:on

Therefore the network is no longer working and I have to /etc/init.d/network restart to be able to put it up again. Running iwlist channel I notice that both channel 36 and 40 are available. I'm running trunk r32423.

Thank you
