#11722 new defect

watchdog: '/etc/init.d/watchdog disable' has no effect

Reported by: Damian Kaczkowski <damian.kaczkowski@…> Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

/etc/init.d/watchdog disable

has no effect on brcm47xx, nor ar71xx. After reboot watchdog is still running. Commenting out the following code in '/etc/hotplug2.rules':

#DEVICENAME == watchdog {
#        exec /sbin/watchdog -t 5 /dev/watchdog
#        next-event

restores '/etc/init.d/watchdog enable|disable' functionality. Watchdog service may be enabled or disabled accordingly.

I just don't know if its safe to comment out those lines...

DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="OpenWrt Attitude Adjustment r32651"

Looking at the history for /etc/hotplug2.rules, it has been this way at least since hotplug2 was introduced, in r16136.

hi,I want to disable the watchdog of my board DB120 either, how can I make it ? Because the board will reboot anyway after 2-3 minutes(187seconds).

I had tried to "killall watchdog" or execute the "/etc/init.d/watchdog stop" in command line,but it doesn't work.

please help me!
