Reported by: mekelly5@… Owned by: kaloz
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk

when trying to reboot system, I get the following from the command line. Luckily the watchdog still kicks in after 30 or 60 seconds and does a hard reset.

root@OpenWrt:/etc# reboot
root@OpenWrt:/etc# [ 135.752050] device eth0 left promiscuous mode
[ 135.756428] br-lan: port 1(eth0) entered disabled state
[ 136.287229] WATCHDOG: Device closed unexpectedly - timer will not stop
[ 138.310783] Restarting system.
[ 139.310227] Reboot failed -- System halted

Can you detail what ixp4xx-based board/machine you are using?

Same problem on Adi Pronghorn

I correct it by adding ".restart = ixp4xx_restart," in machine description (like other ixp4xx platform) into file linux-3.3.8/arch/arm/mach-ixp4xx/pronghorn-setup.c

MACHINE_START(PRONGHORN, "ADI Engineering Pronghorn")
        /* Maintainer: Imre Kaloz <> */
        .map_io         = ixp4xx_map_io,
        .init_irq       = ixp4xx_init_irq,
        .timer          = &ixp4xx_timer,
        .atag_offset    = 0x0100,
        .init_machine   = pronghorn_init,
        .restart        = ixp4xx_restart,  /* Line added */
#if defined(CONFIG_PCI)
        .dma_zone_size  = SZ_64M,
