#11574 closed defect (invalid)

wpad-mini does not support IPv6

Reported by: anonymous Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

When using the hostapd daemon from wpad-mini, the kernel reports "no ipv6 routers present" on the interface used.

Adding CONFIG_IPV6=1 to the Makefile seems to solve the problem...

patch to compile ipv6 options in hostapd

comment:1 Changed 6 years ago by hnyman <hannu.nyman@…>

Do ipv6 enabled devices then get an ipv6 address, while they did not earlier?

Based on the docs found in internet, that option is related to RADIUS operations, not to general ipv6 support. See;a=blob;f=hostapd/defconfig;h=f4c3666776933cb32dfb92451e13813d37beb13d;hb=7ae22133ad21bb4d58d83c732638fecf4453a63e#l126

It actually looks to be on in the hostapd default config (and has been there at least since 2008), so Openwrt leaving it out seems like either an oversight or an attempt to cut down binary size by leaving out rarely used functionalities.

Actually, when I compile wpad-full, I think that it gets enabled eventhough it is not there in the current makefile. So the default might get reflected in the final build.
