#11463 closed defect (invalid)

option ip6gw with static addresses does not set default gateway

Reported by: Tomáš Hnyk <tomashnyk@…> Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: kernel Version: Trunk
Keywords: Cc:

Description

On r31572, my WAN interface in /etc/config/network is configured with static ipv4 and ipv6:

config interface	wan
	option ifname	"eth0.1"
	option proto	static
	option accept_ra	1
	option send_rs	0
	option ipaddr	10.2.23.130
	option netmask  255.255.255.192
	option gateway	10.2.23.129
	option dns	'10.0.1.2 10.0.1.6 8.8.8.8'
	option ip6addr  '???:???:?:1782::/57'
	option ip6gw	'???:???:?:1781::/64'
	option metric   1452

ip -6 route then gives:

???:???:?:1780::/57 dev eth0.1  proto kernel  metric 256
fe80::/64 dev eth0  proto kernel  metric 256
fe80::/64 dev br-lan  proto kernel  metric 256
fe80::/64 dev wl0.1  proto kernel  metric 256
fe80::/64 dev eth0.1  proto kernel  metric 256

And I can't ping anything. When I add to /etc/config/network

config 'route6'
        option 'interface' 'wan'
        option 'target' '::0/0'
        option 'gateway' '???:???:?:1781::'route

I get:

???:???:?:1780::/57 dev eth0.1  proto kernel  metric 256
fe80::/64 dev eth0  proto kernel  metric 256
fe80::/64 dev br-lan  proto kernel  metric 256
fe80::/64 dev wl0.1  proto kernel  metric 256
fe80::/64 dev eth0.1  proto kernel  metric 256
default via ???:???:?:1781:: dev eth0.1  metric 1

And ipv6 traffic freely flows.

I suspect this is a but unless I thoroughly misunderstand something.

the trailing /64 in the ip6gw option looks misplaced. ip6gw is supposed to refer to a host, not a subnet.

Oh, sorry. I was confused by this forum post: https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?pid=150087#p150087 that got it wrong as well. You can close it then.
