#11325 new defect

[trunk] mpd database support is broken for mp3 files

Reported by: flux Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: mpd, mp3 Cc:

never ever ever ever do --disable-id3 because mpd wont be able to read id3 tags from files and this info wont be added into the db.

How to fix the problem

  1. Open mpd package Makefile in a text editor
  2. replace all occurrences of --disable-id3 with --enable-id3
  3. create a DEPEND section for the mini build variant
  4. add a dependency to the libid3tag there
  5. save the changes
  6. compile
  7. test
  8. submit new Makefile if succeeded
  9. close this ticket

How to perform step 7 correctly:

  1. stop the mpd daemon
  2. rename your mpd database file
  3. start the mpd daemon
  4. update the database with your mpd client
  5. check with the client if you still see tags from your mp3 files

before compiling (step 6) do ./scripts/feeds install for the Makefile changes to take effect

here is the patch
It is proven to work. I simply move libid3tag dependency to the default section so it is always selected.
