#11302 closed defect (wontfix)

RTL8187 driver has bad signal.

Reported by: jacporunchi@… Owned by: developers
Priority: high Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: rtl8187, mac80211 Cc:

Description

RTL8187 driver based on mac80211 stack loses signal, respect to the old ieee80211 stack based driver. The device remains connected to the network, as client, but the communication is unstable, slow and ping works alternatively.

Old driver isn't supported again since 2.6.22 kernel version. (Test is done on a ALFA W502U board, with Ralink Rt2860 chipset, and an ALFA AWUS036H with RTL8187 chipset connected via USB. The same hardware with default alfa firmware - 2.6.21 - od ieee80211 driver works well).

It has been revealed as a problem with the driver, reported by git wireless-testing... It can be temporanely solved setting rate to 11M... If it will be solved it will be committed to wireless-testing.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

until this is fixed upstream, there's not much that we can do about it in openwrt. it's a crappy chipset with driver issues making it even worse...

How is possible to set the rate to 11M in openwrt?

There are others solutions for this problem?

thanks you
