#11243 closed defect (worksforme)

cannot disable serial consol on AR71xx

Reported by: kako@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Bugs Paradise
Component: kernel Version: 10.03.1
Keywords: Cc:

I wanted to use on a routerboard 433AH for a one-wire server (owserver).
My last and only problem with it, I cannot disable the kernel option "console=ttyS0,115200" and thatswhy I cannot use the serial 1w adapter.
What I already tried:

  • make kernel_menuconfig ->kernel hacking ->default kernel command string I changed:"rootfstype=squashfs,yaffs,jffs2 noinitrd" to "rootfstype=squashfs,yaffs,jffs2 noinitrd console=/dev/null" As I found in a doc. But in this case the console kernel command appears twice in the kernel command line :

"Kernel command line: rootfstype=squashfs,yaffs,jffs2 noinitrd console=/dev/null console=ttyS0,115200 gpio=4031 HZ=340000000 mem=128M kmac=00:0C:42:xx:xx:xx board=433 boot=0"

I have already grepped and removed all parameters from the config files even they aren't belong to the affected platform, but there is already in the command line that console=/dev/ttyS0 parameter. What Can I do now to remove?

  • Resolution set to worksforme
  • Status changed from new to closed

Edit target/linux/ar71xx/image/Makefile if you want to alter builtin kernel commandlines.
