Reported by: dcheng Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: kernel Version: Trunk
Keywords: orion ramdisk Cc:

While preparing a lzma compressed ramdisk image for a Netgear WNR854T (orion, trunk r30000, linux kernel 3.0.18), I encountered the following error in the end:

LZMA 4.65 : Igor Pavlov : Public domain : 2009-02-03
  AS usr/initramfs_data.o
  LD usr/built-in.o
  LD vmlinux.o
  MODPOST vmlinux.o
  GEN .version
  CHK include/generated/compile.h
  UPD include/generated/compile.h
  CC init/version.o
  LD init/built-in.o
  LD vmlinux
  OBJCOPY arch/arm/boot/Image
  Kernel: arch/arm/boot/Image is ready
  XZKERN arch/arm/boot/compressed/piggy.xzkern
xz: (stdin): Cannot allocate memory
  AS arch/arm/boot/compressed/piggy.xzkern.o
arch/arm/boot/compressed/piggy.xzkern.S: Assembler messages:
arch/arm/boot/compressed/piggy.xzkern.S:4: Error: file not found: arch/arm/boot/compressed/piggy.xzkern
make[7]: *** [arch/arm/boot/compressed/piggy.xzkern.o] Error 1
make[6]: *** [arch/arm/boot/compressed/vmlinux] Error 2
make[5]: *** [uImage] Error 2

How do I create the file piggy.xzkern?

Replying to dcheng:

xz: (stdin): Cannot allocate memory

Your rig has no enough memory, get a bigger rig.

Compiling on a host with more memory solved the problem. Thanks!
